Medical Update.

This is really an age specific post.

For those of you under 40, you’re all going to be, “Like whatever. I saw the life choices the poor old dude made. Ain’t surprised.”

For those of you over 60, it’s going be, “Been there, done that. Poor little bastard has to get better gripes or I’m going to stop visiting this blog.”

Okay, I admit, it is only Carpal Tunnel. When the doctor first told me she thought that is what I had, my first thought was, “Is it near the Tunnel Grand -St-Bernard? This could be really cool?” I was kind of hoping for a geographic specific regimen. Two or Three years in the Swiss Alps and I would be cured.

Sadly, reality is not as much fun. Seems that Carpal Tunnel is not geographically specific and there is no reason to believe that going someplace really neat will cure the syndrome.

So, begrudgingly, I have given a nod to reality. I am seeing the people who give me shock therapy, oops, I mean a Nerve Conduction Study, on April 15th. On April 29th, I will consult with the surgeon, assuming it really is that tunnel that is not in a neat part of the world, and it can be operated on. Everyone seems to think it will be a slam dunk.

And, just so you know, I have not had a cigarette in 23 day, 15 minutes and 41 seconds. I don’t mean to say that I have quit, just that I am an angry smoker who would gladly knock down a little old lady to snag her lit cigarette. The real difference is that a little old lady smoking a cigarette could probably whip my ass, and then I’d be having to explain so many things.

I know, you are all like, “Yawn, heard this before. I think this is number 66 or 67… but there is that hazy decade of the ‘80s.”

Okay, I’m doing it different this time. I’m doing drugs.

Hey, if you can’t find the kitchen, how are you going to find your keys, so how are you going to find the front door, so how are you going to be sure…. You sure ain’t going out for a pack of cigs!

You get the drift.

No, I mean purely legal drugs. And it really does help. I still have moments, but for the most part people don't realize that... Oh, there was that family the other day that I told to "Get out of Dodge", but I think they knew it was time to move on, anyway, I'm kidding, no dead bodies anywhere on the property. Or any adjacent properties, for that matter.

Today is the 44th anniversary of John and Yoko’s famous bed-in.

(Yes, I do remember it, but only vaguely. However, I have MUCH, MUCH older sisters who have told me about it in such detail that I feel like I was there.)

Apparently, John and Yoko spent a week in bed at the Amsterdam Hilton. I know, it seems odd, but it was a peace protest, and not the most unusual by any standard of measure. Pacifists will do the damnedest things to avoid killing people. It is so abnormal.

The bed-in didn’t really catch on. Its time hadn’t come.

Yet.

When you’re young and energetic, spending a week in bed is a waste, even if done in protest. When you’re in your late middle ages, spending a week in bed as a form of contesting the "evil-powers-that-be" takes on a whole new look.

Hot damn, I get to take credit for changing the world while spending time in my favorite place. Life is good, life is good.

Line the causes up! I’m ready to get immobile for a reasonable excuse!

Good and Bad From March Madness

The Jackrabbits are gone. Obviously, one of you didn’t get all gussied up in your SDSU gear and failed to cheer loud enough, and now you’ve done it. I don’t know which one of you it was, but I will find out and you will suffer.

Or maybe I will let it ride, as the Ducks are heading to the Sweet 16. Yee haw, they’re looking good!

March Madness Update and Correction

I made a boo-boo in my post yesterday. This is not the fourth consecutive time the Jackrabbits have been in the NCAA Women's Tournament. This is the fifth consecutive year. And it should be noted that SDSU has only been eligible fot the tourney for five years. Pretty damn good, if you ask me!

And the Ducks, the glorious Ducks. They opened the men's tournament with a resounding win over Oklahoma State. It just feel good to be a Duck right now!

They're B-A-A-A-C-K

Yes, the South Dakota State University Jackrabbits are back in the NCAA Women's basketball tournament. This is the fourth year in a row. Saturday, at 4:10PM Eastern time, they play South Carolina.
(Kind of cute play on states, don't you think?)

Join me in wearing blue and gold and cheering on the Rabbits! This is their year!

Happy Spring! Happy Spring!

And of course, they are predicting snow tonight for the Upper Valley.

Screw them! It is sunny and warm and you just ignore that white crap on the ground. I’m sure it’s just leftover cocaine.

You know me, I’ve never been a great fan of reality!

Vive le printemps!
