Leaving Reno was tough. My new best friend didn’t come with
me. Promise me you’ll write, Ducky!
Lassen Volcanic National Park was my main goal. Yes, there
were pretty rivers and big trees along the way, but I wasn’t satisfied until I
saw the entrance to the park.
Mt. Lassen is pretty cool, in fact the entire park was
amazing. I imagine that St. Helens will bare a strong resemblance in 70 years.
Sadly, smoke began to fill the air.
It was very smoky from Lassen until my stop for the night in
Grants Pass, Oregon. I think all of northern California is on fire. Oh, and just a by-the-by, my plan to escape the heat didn't work. It was well over 90° in Reno and was 104° when I reached Grants Pass.
