Believe it or not, I am actually following the World Cup
this year. The US team didn’t qualify. I read where we should be cheering for
Mexico… but then I read where the Mexican fans chanted some homophobic slur. I
actually saw a video of the chant, but the fans had the nerve, the audacity to
do it in Spanish. I have no idea what they were saying!
So, I am left searching for my team. And I have found it!
Iceland is the smallest (population wise) nation to be
represented in the World Cup. Smallest. Ever. And I love the place!
Fara á Íslandi! Fara á Íslandi! Fara á Íslandi!
(I have no idea if that would be a real cheer for the
Icelandic team… they have a thing with a drum and clapping… hard to imitate in
the written word! Kind of a "BOOM BOOM CLAP routine!)
