Today is the 44th anniversary of John and Yoko’s famous bed-in.

(Yes, I do remember it, but only vaguely. However, I have MUCH, MUCH older sisters who have told me about it in such detail that I feel like I was there.)

Apparently, John and Yoko spent a week in bed at the Amsterdam Hilton. I know, it seems odd, but it was a peace protest, and not the most unusual by any standard of measure. Pacifists will do the damnedest things to avoid killing people. It is so abnormal.

The bed-in didn’t really catch on. Its time hadn’t come.

Yet.

When you’re young and energetic, spending a week in bed is a waste, even if done in protest. When you’re in your late middle ages, spending a week in bed as a form of contesting the "evil-powers-that-be" takes on a whole new look.

Hot damn, I get to take credit for changing the world while spending time in my favorite place. Life is good, life is good.

Line the causes up! I’m ready to get immobile for a reasonable excuse!
