There is little humor in Hooterville this evening.

Richard is at Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital.

Our friend, Alison came out today for an appointment as a home health care nurse. Her findings, my testimony and a call to Richard’s doctor led to an ambulance at our front door. He was express checked into the hospital and by the time I got there (maybe 10 minutes after the ambulance), there was a bevy of medical professionals attending him in a private room with a dramatic view.

Why is it when there is a bevy of medical professionals gathered around a patient in a private room with a dramatic view the news is never good?

The tumor in Richard’s lung has grown. I saw the x-ray. It is close to the entire lung. There is a small part of the lower right lung that is still clear, but as the doctor said, “It really isn’t significant. No air can get there.”

And the tumor is blocking this vein and the other artery, and it is just being really nasty.

And there is nothing they can do. Three doctors, including Richard’s oncologist concurred.

Richard and I held hands and watched Jeopardy! together, as we always do.
